A selection of pictures taken in Stavanger between October 2001 and May 2002.

In March 2002 the results of the tendering rounds for concessions to operate bus services in the Jæren region were released. Although the winners were the region's current bus operators, Connex company SOT, and Nettbuss Vest, it does not mean that there will be no changes. Both companies will operate under the new public transport authority in the region, Rogaland Kollektivtrafikk, and adopt its green livery on their vehicles. The 3 concessions which were awarded, 2 to SOT and 1 to Nettbuss Vest, are organised on a geographical basis with the result that Nettbuss Vest will no longer be seen on routes into Stavanger after implementation on 1. January 2003. With that in mind, some of the scenes you see in the pictures below will be history in a few months time.

Seen in Klubbgata, Stavanger on an unusually quiet October day in 2001 is SOT's SR42061, a DAF SB220 with Arna bus bodywork (build no. 3860). Click for a larger picture

Seen near the Tau ferry terminal in Stavanger on a sunny January morning in 2002 is Østerhus's RF85886, a 1990 model MAN 16-292 with a Jonckheere coach body.

Back to Klubbgata in Stavanger on a more typically busy day in April 2002 is SOT's SR71162, a Volvo B10B with Arna bus bodywork (build no.4278): Click for a larger picture

In Kongsgata, Stavanger in April 2002 is SOT's SR83215, a Volvo B10L with Arna bus bodywork (build no.4390). The shortened rearmost side window is a characteristic of Arna bodywork built for the B10L chassis. Click for a larger picture

Still in Jernbaneveien on the same April evening are two products from Mercedes-Benz. On the left is Nettbuss Vest's RH79203, a Mercedes-Benz Citaro, and on the right is SOT's RH53955, a Mercedes-Benz O 405 N. Click for a larger picture

Click for a larger picture In recent months a number of buses in green livery have appeared on routes between Stavanger and Sola. This livery is not the new Rogaland Kollektivtrafikk green but that of Stor-Oslo Lokaltrafikk. Connex moved a number of buses from service in the capital to Stavanger for service with SOT. CF11903, seen at Tjensvoll in May 2002 is a Vest V25 bodied Scania.
