Arendal, is a town on the south-coast of Norway. With a population of nearly 40.000, Arendal kommune is the largest kommune for many miles around and represents almost 40% of the population of Aust-Agder county.
Arendal is a bustling town during the day through most of the year, but in the month of July it explodes with life with an influx of holidaymakers, many in boats, and visitors to the off-shore power boat racing in the waters around the town. At the same time the town's night-life takes off, with a wide variety of bars, discos and restaurants.
Arendal also features a variety of buses and bus operators. The principle operator is Nettbuss Sør, a relatively recently created Nettbuss subsidiary, the result of Nettbuss's acquisition of all the shares in Aust-Agder Trafikkselskap (ATS) and Arendal Dampskibsselskap. Other companies serving Arendal are; Telemark Bilruter, Risør og Tvedestrand Bilruter, Setesdal Bilruter and Frolandsruta.
In September 2001 I was in Arendal for a few days and took the oportunity to take a few pictures in and around the bus station.
